Tumani Tented Camp
Mababe, Botswana

Opening June 2026
Where three delta river channels converge lies Tumani Tented Camp. A private property within an extension of the Chobe National Park, this new camp offers front-row access to incredible wildlife areas and a star bed safari experience rarely offered in this same way. Easily accessible from Maun and a 25km drive to Khwai - this beautiful spot is set to be one of Botswana's living legends.
The camp is deliberately intimate: eight tented rooms plus a family suite, each slightly raised on wooden platforms with an exterior staircase off the veranda leading up to a private star-deck. At Tumani, sleeping under the stars isn’t a special activity, it’s a built-in feature available to every guest.
At the heart of the camp lies a sprawling main area under thatch, with multiple lounge pockets, interior and al fresco dining offering either privacy or conviviality, and complete with a pool sporting uninterrupted views across the river.
Like its sister property, MmaTsebe, this owner-run camp will carry a strong sense of character, with personalised touches woven into every detail. Inspired by the starry skies and the stillness of Mababe in the summer heat, the design draws on cool, calming tones offset by standout antique pieces that add depth and individuality. Both the main areas and guest rooms will reflect this balance - a blend of understated elegance and our distinctive style.
This combination of privacy, positioning, and an accessible rate sets the camp apart, offering guests a camp that feels both exciting and excellent value - a secluded camp in one of Botswana’s most productive yet uncrowded wildlife areas.

An elevated sleep-out deck accessible from every guest's veranda.

Featuring a private flush loo, hot indoor shower, double vanity sink and mirror, wardrobe with a safe, and an outdoor shower accessed through a sliding door.

During the dry season, guests can experience sleeping under the stars as part of the experience at Tumani. Simply walk up the stairs off your private veranda and lean into the wild night surrounding you. Ideal time to visit Tumani to get the most out of our star beds is April - October. Tumani offers a comfortable stay in a stunning riverside setting, diverse game drives through Mababe and the Chobe National Park, walking safaris and excellent accessibility for both self-drive and fly-in guests.
We highly recommend combining Tumani Tented Camp with MmaTsebe - just an 1.5 hour road transfer between the camps allows guests to experience four fantastic wildlife areas: Mababe, Chobe National Park, Moremi Game Reserve and Khwai.
Tumani follows the ethos of The Okavango Collection; Keeping it grounded - a humble offering that doesn't make big promises but simply delivers on the classic requirements of a great safari: Top notch guiding and game viewing, comfortable tents, delicious homely dishes and personable hospitality.
